A One-Day Retreat Conference

Outside the Storm

Equipping pastors and pastoral staff to shepherd people through divorce

When someone in your church walks into the storm of divorce, they need a steady hand standing just outside of it. Spend one day learning to be that hand.

Why This Day

You didn't get into ministry to watch people fall apart

But it happens anyway. Someone you've married, baptized, and shepherded for years sits down across from you and tells you their marriage is coming undone. And in that moment, most of us feel something we don't say out loud. We're not sure what to do.

I've been on the other side of that desk. Twice. I've sat in the storm of divorce as a man who loved God and still couldn't see a way through. What I needed was someone who could stand outside my storm, see the shape of it, and walk me toward growth instead of just survival. That's what this day trains you to be.

This is not a marriage-saving seminar. It's about how you walk with a person through one of the hardest seasons of their life in a way that protects their faith, protects their kids, protects their safety, and leaves them more like Christ on the other side than they were walking in.

"Picture someone standing inside a small tornado, eyes shut against the wind. Now picture someone standing outside, calm, who can see which way the storm is drifting and the safest way out. That second person is who you're being trained to be." The heart of Outside the Storm

Featured Guest Speaker

When the marriage isn't just unhappy — it's unsafe

Some of the marriages your people are walking through aren't just painful. They're dangerous. And most church cultures are terrible at seeing it, because we're wired to push toward reconciliation and we don't want to believe someone we know could be at risk.

A guest expert in domestic violence will equip pastoral staff to recognize the signs, ask the questions that surface danger, and respond in a way that puts safety first. You'll leave knowing your limits, knowing when to bring in a professional or the authorities, and knowing how to help without putting a victim at greater risk.

Guest speaker to be announced.

Venue & nearby lodging: The exact location is being finalized. Once it's set, we'll post a list of nearby properties here so you can book a room that fits your budget.

Please note: attendees are responsible for their own transportation and overnight accommodations. Your registration covers the full conference day, meals, and your copies of the book.
